Capturing The Digital History
Lovettsville is the only town or village in Loudoun County with its own museum specifically dedicated to preserving its own civic and local history. The Lovettsville Historical Society & Museum is located in a converted 1890s butcher shop, next to Lovettsville Town Hall, in a district which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The museum’s archive room contains old photographs, maps, deeds, family Bibles with genealogy charts inside, business ledgers from town merchants and town doctors, personal journals and diaries, old letters and receipts, vintage advertisement art from town merchants, church records, autograph albums from the 1800s, multiple scrapbooks of clippings dating back to the 1920s, and other paper records and ephemera.
The purpose of this grant is to enable Lovettsville Historical Society & Museum to digitize its collection of documents.
